We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.
It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.
About the opportunity
The technology space is evolving, and so are we. At Bendigo Bank we are simplifying our technology function, creating clearer accountabilities aligned with our strategy and customer needs. With a focus on delivering innovative services at scale, we’re creating a future-ready customer experience and high performing culture.
As our new Technical Product Owner – Customer Identity you’ll lead the strategy and delivery of our secure, user-friendly authentication systems. You will champion the perfect balance between a seamless digital customer experience and robust cybersecurity, privacy compliance, and system reliability across our consumer-facing applications. This is an opportunity to leverage your deep identity platform expertise to drive trust and innovation for our customers.
In this role you’ll get to...
- Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) capabilities, including user login, MFA, and profile management.
- Deliver secure, user-friendly customer authentication systems that balance a frictionless digital experience with rigorous cybersecurity measures.
- Manage the product backlog by prioritising features based on risk mitigation, engineering capacity, and overall user adoption.
- Ensure the platform adheres strictly to data privacy regulations, providing customers with robust consent management and data residency controls.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, engineering principals, security teams, digital teams, and third-party platform providers.
- Drive the end-to-end delivery of consumer-facing applications, ensuring seamless system reliability across the organisation.
What you’ll bring to the role
To be successful in the role you will have:
- 7+ years of experience in a large enterprise environment implementing, supporting, and delivering Customer Identity solutions.
- A deep understanding of industry standard authentication frameworks such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SAML.
- Proven experience with modern cloud based identity platforms and customer directories (e.g., Ping Identity, OKTA, IBM Security Verify).
- Demonstrated expertise administering identity platforms using automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), with exposure to DevOps environments (Gitlab, Kubernetes, Cloud native offerings).
- Strong working knowledge of API security, token management, encryption, and session handling.
- Solid Agile delivery experience, including sprint planning, defining clear acceptance criteria, and unblocking engineering teams.
This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, located at our Melbourne or Bendigo Head Office locations.
We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.
We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
If you're already part of Bendigo Bank (including Community Banks), you'll need to apply through People Hub to submit a valid application. We’re keen to support you with the next step in your career.
Still in two minds?
Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don’t tick every box we still want to see your application!
