Are you ready to lead with purpose?
In a banking landscape that is increasingly transactional, we choose to be different. At Bendigo Bank, we are proud to be one of Australia’s most innovative and trusted banks. We believe that a bank should have its customers' backs, and our core purpose is simple yet profound: to feed into prosperity, not off it.
As we charge toward our Strategy 2030 vision to be Australia’s bank of choice, we are looking for an extraordinary leader to run our Business Banking team across NSW and the ACT.
Based in the highly competitive Sydney market, this is not just a commercial leadership role; it’s an opportunity to drive genuine community capability, shape a high-performance culture, and empower local businesses to thrive. Whether you are a seasoned banking executive looking for a more purposeful legacy, or an emerging leader with a stellar track record ready to step up, this role will give you the platform to make a lasting impact.
Why this role is different
As our Regional Manager – Business Banking, you will lead, coach, and energise a dedicated team of Business Relationship Bankers managing portfolios from $500k to $10m+ in business lending.
You won't just sit behind a desk, you will be on the ground with your bankers, visiting customers, and building deep, trusted relationships across NSW and the ACT. You will play a crucial role in bringing our "Bigger for You" campaign to life—proving that we have the robust capability and financial muscle of the "Big Four," delivered with the authentic care, human connection, and values of a community-focused bank.
Key Responsibilities
As a key leader within our Business division, you will:
- Lead, Coach & Energise: Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and psychological safety.
- Drive Business Performance: Manage the region's Profit & Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet, achieving profitable growth across assets, deposits, and non-interest income.
- Master Risk & Credit: Maintain strong risk maturity, champion robust credit management practices, and exercise Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) to support customer growth safely.
- Champion Strategic Transformation: Lead your team through change, embedding our "one-way-same-way" operating philosophy to ensure consistency, simplicity, and operational excellence.
- Sponsor Local Ecosystems: Build deep connections with local business chambers, community partners, Consumer Regional Managers, and broker networks to drive high-value, mutually beneficial referral partnerships.
Who you are
This role is designed for a dynamic leader who embodies our values: Make a difference, Own it, Be better together, and Find the right way.
We are looking for:
- An Inspiring Leader: A track record of leading lending teams to success, with a natural ability to coach, inspire, and drive accountability.
- A Commercial & Credit Expert: Deep commercial banking experience with a sophisticated understanding of complex business lending, financial analysis, and credit risk principles.
- A Growth Catalyst: A natural connector and proactive business developer who can confidently articulate our unique customer value proposition in a highly competitive metro and regional market.
- An Agile Problem Solver: A growth mindset with the lateral thinking skills needed to navigate a rapidly evolving digital banking landscape.
- Qualified Professional: Tertiary qualifications in Business/Finance (or a related discipline) and FSRA Accreditation (T2) are highly regarded.
What we offer you
- A Culture of Impact: Work for an organization where your decisions directly contribute to the financial well-being of families, businesses, and communities.
- Genuine Flexibility: A hybrid working model based out of our Sydney hub, designed to support your work-life balance.
- Career Progression: Access to comprehensive leadership development programs and opportunities to fast-track your executive career.
- Exciting Benefits: Highly competitive salary package, performance-based incentives, and staff banking discounts.
