About the team 

The Risk and Compliance (R&C) is the 1LoA function responsible for enabling the Group to manage the risks associated with their respective area of focus in, line with the Group’s risk appetite. In that support, the R&C function will enable the success of the business by instilling a culture of risk management as a core part of how we support our customers and ensure that we have the appropriate processes and practices to meet our compliance obligations.

About the role

As a Senior Risk Specialist and reporting to Head of Non-Financial Risk Transformation, you will be pivotal in leading and delivering strategic and transformation initiatives that strengthen the organisation’s non-financial risk management framework, operating model, controls environment and risk maturity.

You will partner closely with business leaders, risk teams, compliance, transformation functions and other key stakeholders to design and implement sustainable solutions that enhance risk management effectiveness, improve accountability and support regulatory engagement

You will get to

  • Provide leadership in supporting the continuous improvement of Risk Transformation practices across 1LoA and embedding enhancements of the NFR Framework
  • Drive and deliver a consultative approach with senior leaders by developing an active presence and providing sound advice in the treatment and management of risk and compliance.
  • Lead the delivery of key strategic NFR transformation initiative across the organisation
  • Support the Head of Non-Financial Risk transformation with high level papers and strategic insights to the Divisional, Executive and Board Risk Committees.

Ideally you will be based at one of our corporate offices in Melbourne or Sydney.

About you

To be successful you will be

  • An experienced operational risk & compliance leader with a proven track record in large-scale transformation programs across major financial institutions
  • Demonstrated experience in managing senior stakeholder relationships with the ability to advise, negotiate and influence
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of banking products and services including policies and procedures
  • Ability to synthesise complex quantitative and qualitative business and regulatory requirements
  • A continuous improvement and adaptable mind set with the ability to work with complexity and ambiguity
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Risk Management, Accounting, Finance or related field
