We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.
It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.
About the opportunity
The technology space is evolving, and so are we. At Bendigo Bank we are simplifying our technology function, creating clearer accountabilities aligned with our strategy and customer needs. With a focus on delivering innovative services at scale, we’re creating a future-ready customer experience and high performing culture.
An opportunity has emerged for a Technical Product Owner within our Core Banking Support Services division: focusing on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
Your primary focus will be on serving as the squad’s single voice of intent—owning the problem space, shaping the product backlog, and enabling the
squad to make smart delivery decisions. You will play a crucial role in shaping our ways-of-working, setting a technical product vision and roadmaps to align with business strategy.
In this role you’ll get to...
- Define and communicate a clear technology vision and roadmap for our core banking platforms, enabling rapid composable outcomes that align with business strategy.
- Own and continuously refine the squad’s product backlog, ensuring a healthy balance of new features, technical debt reduction, risk mitigation, and operational support.
- Break down complex problems into meaningful, testable increments, empowering your cross-functional squad to make smart, day-to-day delivery decisions.
- Drive an inclusive team culture, providing influential leadership and collaborative alignment.
- Translate product strategy into actionable, squad-level priorities, utilising data and direct feedback to solve core customer and business problems.
- Act as the primary conduit for stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring all delivery strictly aligns with regulatory, risk, security, and compliance standards.
What you’ll bring to the role
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner, Delivery Lead, or Business Analyst in a cross-functional team, with a track record of delivering digital or platform-level solutions.
- A strong understanding of modern product development practices (Agile, Lean) with high proficiency in story writing, prioritisation techniques, and backlog refinement.
- The ability to confidently manage ambiguity, make strategic trade-offs, and navigate competing technical and business priorities.
- Familiarity with delivery flow metrics (eg cycle time, throughput, WIP) and team health indicators (eg DORA metrics) to optimise squad performance.
- Exceptional internal and external stakeholder management and communication skills, backed by a deep curiosity about customers and a bias toward evidence based decision making.
- Demonstrate the ability influence stakeholders and articulate the business value of technical roadmaps
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Technology, or a related discipline, ideally complemented by certifications in Agile Product Ownership or Scrum (CSPO, SAFe).
