We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

The technology space is evolving, and so are we. At Bendigo Bank we are simplifying our technology function, creating clearer accountabilities aligned with our strategy and customer needs. With a focus on delivering innovative services at scale, we’re creating a future-ready customer experience and high performing culture.

The Technical Product Owner is responsible for maximising the value delivered by a cross-functional squad, ensuring alignment between customer needs, business goals, and the squad's work. You will serve as the squad's single voice of intent, owning the problem space and shaping the product backlog to enable smart delivery decisions.

Operating in a Team Topologies-aligned environment, you will work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deeply understand customer journeys. By prioritising collaboration and clarity, you will balance discovery with delivery and short-term iteration with long-term value, ensuring that what gets built is valuable, feasible, and usable.

In this role you’ll get to...

  • Define and communicate a clear technology vision and product roadmap for your squad.
  • Own and continuously refine the squad’s product backlog, ensuring items are well-articulated and prioritised.
  • Translate customer problems and product strategy into actionable, squad-level priorities.
  • Break down complex problems into meaningful, testable increments that the squad can deliver iteratively.
  • Empower your squad to make delivery decisions while holding the long-term vision.
  • Act as the primary conduit between the squad and its external stakeholders, communicating progress and impact.

What you’ll bring to the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Experience in a similar role such as a Product Owner, Delivery Lead, or Business Analyst within a cross-functional team.
  • A strong understanding of modern product development practices, especially agile, lean, and human-centred design.
  • A proven track record of managing a backlog and delivering customer-focused digital or platform solutions.
  • Confidence in managing ambiguity, making trade-offs, and navigating competing priorities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent practical experience); certifications in Agile Product Ownership (e.g., CSPO) are desirable.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, located at our Melbourne or Bendigo Head Office locations.

We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.

If you're already part of Bendigo Bank (including Community Banks), you'll need to apply through People Hub to submit a valid application. We’re keen to support you with the next step in your career.

Still in two minds?

Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don’t tick every box we still want to see your application!

Please note shortlisting and interviews may take place prior to the advertised close date, so don't delay apply now!
