As we build a best-in-class financial crime first line accountability, this function is responsible for the operational management of BEN’s financial crime controls across AML, sanctions, fraud and scams. It will deliver investigation capability, detection systems, financial crime intelligence, regulatory reporting governance and operational support to identify, prevent and respond to financial crime risks impacting BEN.

 

About the opportunity

 

As part of our landmark transformation, we are seeking Senior Manager, Transaction Monitoring Investigations and reporting to Head of AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations.

 

You will lead  BEN’s Transaction Monitoring Investigations team, responsible for investigating transaction monitoring alerts, unusual activity referrals and other potential financial crime activity to support the identification and management of AML/CTF risks.  

 

As a key member of the AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations leadership team, you will drive investigation quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring the function delivers strong risk outcomes and meets BEN’s AML/CTF regulatory obligations.

 

In particular you will get to:

·       Lead the Transaction Monitoring Investigation team to ensure alerts generated through BEN’s transaction monitoring systems, and matters referred through Unusual Activity Reports (UARs), are reviewed, investigated and escalated in a timely, risk based and consistent manner in accordance with BEN’s AML/CTF Program and regulatory obligations.

·       Drive operational excellence across the Transaction Monitoring Investigations function, ensuring investigations are conducted efficiently, consistently and in line with BEN’s financial crime frameworks and service expectations.

·       Support the delivery of the AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations strategy by developing and executing plans that strengthen transaction monitoring investigation capability.

·       Build and lead a high performing team of investigators, fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

·       Identify emerging financial crime risks, trends and themes and ensure appropriate escalation and management of matters requiring further investigation.

·       Lead and support change initiatives impacting the Transaction Monitoring Investigations function, ensuring successful implementation and adoption across the team.

 

This is a permanent full-time position ideally located in Melbourne or Adelaide but for an outstanding candidate other locations may be considered.

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

 

  • Significant experience in AML investigations, transaction monitoring or financial crime operations within financial services
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, transaction monitoring processes and financial crime typologies
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial crime investigation teams with the ability to drive operational performance, efficiency and quality outcomes
  • Excellent analytical and investigative skills with the ability to assess complex financial crime actively
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across senior business and risk stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field with Financial Crime Industry qualification such as ACAM’s, AFCS highly desirable.
