As we build a best-in-class financial crime first line accountability, this function is responsible for the operational management of BEN’s financial crime controls across AML, sanctions, fraud and scams. It will deliver investigation capability, detection systems, financial crime intelligence, regulatory reporting governance and operational support to identify, prevent and respond to financial crime risks impacting BEN.
About the opportunity
As part of our landmark transformation, we are seeking Senior Manager, Major Investigations reporting to Head of AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations.
You will lead BEN’s Major Investigations function, responsible for investigating complex, high risk and sensitive financial crime matters and ensuring strong risk outcomes through effective leadership, operational excellence and sound investigative practices.
As a key member of the AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations leadership team, you will drive investigation quality, risk-based decision making and continuous improvement, ensuring the function delivers strong risk outcomes and meets BEN’s AML/CTF regulatory obligations.
In particular you will get to
- Lead the Major Investigations team to ensure complex AML and escalated fraud related matters are investigated in a timely, risk based and consistent manner in accordance with BEN’s AML/CTF Program and regulatory obligations.
- Drive operational excellence across complex investigations, ensuring matters are managed thoroughly and in line with BEN’s financial crime frameworks and service expectations.
- Support the delivery of the AML/CTF & Sanctions Operations strategy by developing and executing plans that strengthen BEN’s complex investigation capability.
- Build and lead a high performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead the investigation of complex, high risk and sensitive financial crime matters, ensuring appropriate assessment, escalation and management in accordance with regulatory obligations and BEN’s financial crime framework.
- Identify emerging financial crime risks, trends and typologies and support the implementation of effective controls and mitigation strategies across the Major Investigations function.
- Lead and support change initiatives impacting the Major Investigations function, ensuring successful implementation and adoption across the team.
This is a permanent full-time position ideally located in Melbourne or Adelaide but for an outstanding candidate other locations may be considered.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Significant experience in AML investigations, complex financial crime investigations or financial crime operations within financial services.
- Demonstrated experience managing high performing operational teams responsible for high risk and complex investigation activities.
- Strong knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, complex financial crime investigations and financial crime typologies with an understanding of cross typology risks including AML Fraud and sanctions.
- Excellent analytical and investigation skills with the ability to assess complex financial crime activity
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across senior business and risk stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field with Financial Crime Industry qualification such as ACAM’s, AFCS highly desirable.
