· Driving a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk identification.
About the role
The Senior Manager Fraud and Scams will report directly to the Executive, Financial Crime Risk (and Deputy MLRO).
You will be responsible for designing the bank's framework for understanding and mitigating fraud and scam risks. This pivotal role involves establishing and maintaining the enterprise-wide fraud and scam risk management framework, ensuring effective controls, policies, and governance are in place. Your primary objective will be to ensure that fraud and scam risks are appropriately identified, assessed, monitored, and managed across the organisation.
Key accountabilities include:
- Fraud and Scam Risk Framework: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Fraud and Scam Risk Management Framework, including all related policies, standards, and procedures.
- Oversight: Provide independent oversight and challenge to first line fraud and scam prevention, detection, and response activities, and review the effectiveness of controls.
- Risk Assessment and Reporting: Lead the development and maintenance of the bank’s fraud and scam risk assessment, identifying emerging threats and providing insights to senior leadership.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Expert fraud risk management domain knowledge with a deep, technical understanding of scam and fraud typologies in banking and payments.
- Strong commercial understanding of how banking products, customer types, and delivery channels can be exploited for fraud and scams.
- Proven experience in a senior fraud risk management role, including providing high-quality governance reporting to senior management.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience leading or significantly contributing to an effective fraud and scam risk management framework.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant financial crime laws, regulations, and guidance from key authorities (AUSTRAC).
Highly desirable
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- Financial Crime industry qualifications such as ACAMs or AFCS.
This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney or Brisbane.
