About the role

The Senior Manager Financial Crime Risk Assessment will report directly to the Executive, Financial Crime Risk (and Deputy MLRO).

You will be at the forefront of designing and leading the bank's framework for understanding and mitigating financial crime risk.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing a single, holistic view of the bank’s financial crime vulnerabilities to Executive leadership and the Board, directly informing strategic decision-making.

You will lead the design, delivery, and ongoing enhancement of all financial crime risk assessment methodologies, including the comprehensive Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment (EWRA).

A key focus of this position will be to transform the annual assessment process into a dynamic, near real-time function by implementing innovative approaches and technologies.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Risk Assessment Framework: Own the end-to-end design, implementation, and maintenance of all financial crime risk assessment methodologies, ensuring they are compliant and consistently applied.
  • Delivery of the EWRA: Lead the successful execution and delivery of the bank's annual Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment, from planning and data collection to analysis and reporting.
  • Data and Insights: Analyse and interpret risk assessment results to provide clear, actionable insights to Executive leadership on the bank’s top financial crime risks and emerging threats.

What you’ll bring to the role

Essential

  • Expert financial crime domain knowledge with a deep, technical understanding of AML, CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, and Fraud.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant financial crime laws, regulations, and guidance from authorities like AUSTRAC, APRA, and FATF.
  • Specialist knowledge in designing and implementing both qualitative and quantitative risk assessment models.
  • Strong commercial understanding of how banking products, customer types, and delivery channels can be exploited for financial crime.

Highly desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • Financial Crime industry qualifications such as ACAMs or AFCS.

This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney or Brisbane.
