As we continue to enhance our capabilities, this is a unique opportunity to lead the strategic design and implementation of data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) to uplift the bank’s resilience against financial crime. We are currently recruiting a driven and experienced professional to join our Group Risk function.

 

As the Senior Manager for Financial Crime Data Analytics and AI, you’ll make an impact by:

  • Driving innovation by leveraging advanced data analytics and AI to enhance the detection, disruption, and prevention of financial crime.
  • Developing and implementing the strategic vision for the Bank's financial crime data and analytics framework.
  • Leading a high-performing team of experts to deliver robust, data-led solutions that mitigate financial crime risks.
  • Translating complex data insights into clear, actionable strategies that inform executive decisions and protect the bank, our customers, and the community.

 

About the role

 

The Senior Manager, Financial Crime Data Analytics and AI reports to the Head of Financial Crime Solutions. In this pivotal leadership role, you will be at the forefront of maturing the Bank’s use of technology to combat financial crime. You will be responsible for protecting the Bank from regulatory and reputational risk by overseeing the development and maintenance of our financial crime solutions. A key focus will be on automation and continuous improvement, ensuring our practices for identifying and managing financial crime risk are aligned with domestic and international best practices.

 

Key accountabilities include:

  • Data & Analytics Strategy: Design and implement a comprehensive financial crime data and analytics strategy for risk management across the Bank.
  • Leadership: Lead and develop the Financial Crime Solutions – Data & Analytics function, fostering a high-performance culture and providing expert guidance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements to financial crime processes through the advanced use of data, analytics, automation, and AI.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including Financial Crime Operations, Technology, and senior leadership, to ensure the effective implementation of financial crime solutions.

 

What you’ll bring to the role

 

Essential

  • Deep knowledge and extensive experience in financial crime risk management within the banking industry.
  • Advanced and proven expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of financial crime solutions, including data, analytics, and AI.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead, drive change, and build a high-performing team.
  • Advanced skills in data and analytics tools and languages such as Oracle, SQL, Python, R, PowerBI, or Tableau.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex data into accessible information for senior stakeholders.

 

Highly desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Data Science, Risk Management, or Finance.
  • Post-graduate studies in Data and/or Risk.
  • Experience with common financial crime risk systems (e.g., NetReveal, RSA).
  • Industry qualifications such as ACAMS or AFCS.

 

This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney or Brisbane. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team.
