As we build a best-in-class financial crime second line of accountability, this is a unique opportunity to provide critical oversight, strategic direction, and effective challenge, to detect, deter and disrupt all types of financial crime and help protect our bank, our customers, and our communities. - Providing expert advice and effective challenge to the first line of accountability to uplift our overall financial crime risk management maturity.
- Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a team of dedicated risk professionals.
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk identification.
About the role
The Senior Manager Financial Crime Advisory will report directly to the Head of Financial Crime Advisory and Training.
You will play a crucial role in protecting Bendigo and Adelaide Bank from regulatory, reputational, and financial risks. You will act as a subject matter expert on the Financial Crime Ecosystem, which includes AML/CTF, Sanctions, Fraud, ABC, and FATCA/CRS.
Your primary responsibility will be to identify, understand, and interpret financial crime requirements and obligations, transforming complex information into practical advice and guidance for all relevant parties. You will lead engagement with various business units to develop and maintain robust financial crime processes, procedures, and controls.
Key accountabilities include:
- Leadership: Drive a high-performance culture within the FCR Advisory function, provide mentorship, and foster strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Advisory and Oversight: Proactively deliver expert financial crime advice, lead risk assessments, manage the remediation of financial crime issues, and provide recommendations to senior leaders.
- Organisation Resilience: Support business units during financial crime incidents to minimise disruption and capture lessons learned to improve business continuity.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
- Significant financial crime experience in the banking industry with deep knowledge of a bank’s financial crime environment.
- Proven ability to drive financial crime risk management across business units.
- Advanced communication, engagement, and leadership skills with the ability to drive change at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and assess risks, controls, and issues.
Highly desirable
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
- Financial Crime industry qualifications such as ACAMs or AFCS.
This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney or Brisbane.
