Reports To: Head of Finance Partnering

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

Bendigo Bank is undergoing a transformative period of strategic growth and risk maturity. To support this journey, we have established a high-priority, enterprise-wide Risk Rectification Strategy. We are seeking a commercial, highly analytical Senior Finance Manager on a 12-month maximum-term basis to step in immediately as the dedicated finance lead across this critical programme of work.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance Partnering, you will provide strategic commercial advisory, complex financial modelling, and transparent governance across the Risk Rectification program. This is not a back-office reporting role—you will partner directly with Programme Sponsors, Project Leads, the Chief Financial Officer, and Executive Leadership to bring financial rigour, challenge business assumptions, and track every dollar of investment against tangible risk and commercial outcomes.

What You’ll Do

As our Senior Finance Manager – Risk Rectification Plan, you will make an immediate impact by:

  • Commercial Partnering & Advisory: Serving as the key commercial finance co-pilot to Project Sponsors, Executive Committees, and the Board, providing clear financial insights and integrated costing model.
  • Investment Governance & Financial Modelling: Owning and running the master financial models, cost/benefit tracking frameworks, and supply/demand capacity models across the enterprise risk programme.
  • Rigorous Cost & Resource Tracking: Providing deep visibility over project vs. BAU expenditure, resource allocation, third-party vendor spend, and operational run-rates to ensure capital is deployed effectively.
  • Constructive Executive Challenge: Pressure-testing business cases, project assumptions, and change requests, ensuring investment decisions maintain an optimal balance of risk rectification and commercial return.
  • Group Finance Alignment: Bridging the transformation programme with core FP&A cycles, ensuring monthly forecasts, multi-year plans, and divisional budgets accurately reflect programme outcomes and run-rate implications.
  • Framework Enhancement: Leveraging your project finance expertise to embed long-term governance disciplines and tracking infrastructure across our investment slate.

What You’ll Bring

This role requires a unique blend of deep technical accounting fundamentals, sophisticated financial modelling expertise, and the executive gravitas to influence senior stakeholders in a high-stakes transformation environment.

Essential Experience & Credentials:

  • Senior Commercial Finance Acumen: 10+ years of progressive experience across commercial finance, strategic business partnering, corporate finance, project finance, or investment banking within financial services or complex regulated environments.
  • Professional Qualifications: Fully qualified CA, CPA, or equivalent recognised professional accounting designation with a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Modelling & Analytical Muscle: Proven mastery in designing and maintaining complex financial and investment models, scenario planning, and capacity/resource forecasting in Excel.
  • Executive Presence & Constructive Challenge: Demonstrated ability to translate intricate financial data into crisp, strategic presentations for C-suite and Board stakeholders, with the confidence to challenge senior leaders constructively.
  • Availability: High readiness for an immediate or near-immediate start.

While not essential, it would be advantageous if you have:

  • Direct exposure to banking regulatory compliance, risk remediation, or enterprise-wide transformation programmes within an APRA-regulated institution.
  • Familiarity with large-scale programme financial tracking and investment slate management.

So, why work for us?

Want to be more than just a number? Join an organisation that genuinely values you and the unique contribution you bring. We offer a competitive package and an inclusive, people-first culture, including:

  • Meaningful Impact: Lead the commercial oversight for one of the bank’s most vital strategic undertakings.
  • Flexible Working: Hybrid flexibility that puts people first, balancing corporate collaboration (minimum 2 days/week across our Melbourne, Adelaide, Bendigo, or Sydney offices) with home working.
  • Wellbeing Support: Comprehensive health and wellbeing benefits, discounted financial products, private health insurance subsidies, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your family.

Still in two minds?

Research indicates that women and candidates from underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every single criterion. At Bendigo Bank, we value diversity of thought and experience. If you bring the commercial energy, accounting rigour, and analytical horsepower this role demands, we encourage you to apply.

Bendigo Bank is committed to creating an inclusive workplace. We actively support requests for reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
