We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

The technology space is evolving, and so are we. At Bendigo Bank we are simplifying our technology function, creating clearer accountabilities aligned with our strategy and customer needs. With a focus on delivering innovative services at scale, we’re creating a future-ready customer experience and high performing culture.

As the Senior Engineer - Secure Networks, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding our bank's critical infrastructure. This high-impact role sits at the dynamic intersection of networking and cybersecurity, requiring a strong foundation in both disciplines to protect our digital assets.

In this role you’ll get to...

  • Own and safeguard the bank's perimeter security by managing, modifying, and troubleshooting critical firewall policies and implementing robust threat prevention against malware and ransomware.
  • Control network access and compliance utilising hands-on expertise with Cisco ISE and Forescout to govern which devices are permitted to connect to the corporate network.
  • Architect secure traffic pathways by designing and enforcing granular network segmentation policies to control data flow seamlessly between subnets.
  • Bridge corporate and cloud environments by building, configuring, and maintaining secure, private connectivity to trusted third-party partners and major public clouds (AWS/Azure).
  • Troubleshoot complex remote access challenges as you directly support and optimize Palo Alto Prisma Access and GlobalProtect (GP) VPN client infrastructure for our end users.
  • Proactively monitor and optimize network health by utilising tools like SolarWinds, managing secure public DNS zones, and leveraging F5 load balancers to maximize application delivery.

What you’ll bring to the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Proven expertise in Firewall & Threat Prevention, with deep capabilities in rule modification, troubleshooting, and integrated security frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ISE and Forescout to confidently manage Network Access Control (NAC) policies.
  • Strong proficiency in Network Segmentation and Web Filtering, including configuring SSL bypasses and managing business-critical URL whitelists.
  • Solid foundational routing and switching knowledge to effectively manage LAN traffic flow and provision network components.
  • Direct experience with Palo Alto Prisma Access and GlobalProtect VPN to resolve remote connectivity issues for end-users.
  • Demonstrated operational experience in enterprise services, including proactive monitoring (SolarWinds), public DNS management, and load-balancing concepts (F5).

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, located at our Melbourne or Bendigo Head Office locations.

We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.

If you're already part of Bendigo Bank (including Community Banks), you'll need to apply through People Hub to submit a valid application. We’re keen to support you with the next step in your career.

Still in two minds?

Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don’t tick every box we still want to see your application!

Please note shortlisting and interviews may take place prior to the advertised close date, so don't delay apply now!
