We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

The technology space is evolving, and so are we. At Bendigo Bank we are simplifying our technology function, creating clearer accountabilities aligned with our strategy and customer needs. With a focus on delivering innovative services at scale, we’re creating a future-ready customer experience and high performing culture.

As the Senior Engineer – Cyber Platforms, you are the platform backbone of our security operations. While our Cyber Fusion Centre actively hunts and responds to threats, your mission is to design, build, and maintain the mission-critical underlying platforms, ingestion pipelines, and API integrations that make their work possible. This role requires a strong blend of hands-on security platform engineering, secure cloud architecture, and an overall understanding of threat actor TTPs and modern Security Operations ensuring our defensive capabilities are scalable, resilient, and continuously evolving.

In this role you’ll get to…

  • Drive the platform enablement, engineering, and optimisation of our core cyber defence platforms (SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Email Security, Information Protection, Cloud Security, and Threat Intelligence), directly managing their lifecycle, scalability, resilience, and overall system health ensuring a highly secure, high-performance environment that underpins the Cyber Fusion Centre.
  • Automate and manage platform and capability deployment by using Terraform and CI/CD pipelines to programmatically deploy, configure, and operate our native and core security tooling across cloud providers (AWS and GCP).
  • Manage security agents and telemetry by ensuring the reliable deployment, continuous health monitoring, and lifecycle management of security agents (such as EDR) across all enterprise endpoints and infrastructure.
  • Orchestrate and architect security data pipelines by onboarding, configuring, and maintaining highly resilient, high-volume log ingestion pathways, ensuring continuous availability of parsed, normalised, and high-fidelity telemetry that enables the Cyber Fusion Centre’s (CFC)
  • Expand your cyber defence expertise with unique opportunities to cross-skill and work closely with the Cyber Fusion Centre, expanding your knowledge and hands-on experience in actively detecting and responding to complex cyber threats.
  • Drive platform automation and IaC by treating security infrastructure as code (Terraform, CI/CD pipelines) to automate deployments, configure security posture, and eliminate manual platform administration.
  • Architect secure integrations by designing secure authentication and data flows between modern security platforms and enterprise identity providers (such as Microsoft Entra ID).
  • Govern security data by ensuring platform configurations adhere to strict data privacy, PII handling, and usage policies, providing a secure foundation for advanced analytics and AI tool integrations.

What you’ll bring to the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Proven expertise in Cyber Platform Engineering, with extensive hands-on experience architecting, administering, and scaling a broad ecosystem of enterprise security capabilities, ensuring strict alignment with security standards.
  • Extensive hands-on experience automating the deployment, configuration, and operational lifecycle of core and native security tooling across AWS and GCP environments, combining Terraform and CI/CD expertise with a deep familiarity of native AWS and GCP cloud services.
  • Expertise in log and data pipeline management, including onboarding new security data sources, and managing telemetry routing, parsing, and data normalisation across complex multi-cloud environments.
  • Experience in agent lifecycle management, with a track record of deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting security agents at an enterprise scale.
  • Strong automation and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) alongside practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and API-driven integrations.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native security platforms (such as Google SecOps) and a solid understanding of cloud-based log analysis and secure telemetry ingestion.
  • A strong "enablement" mindset, demonstrating the ability to partner closely with detection engineers and incident responders to understand their operational needs and build platforms that accelerate their workflows.

Additionally, exposure to or familiarity with the following will be highly regarded:

  • Identity & Access Management: Experience integrating complex security platforms with modern identity frameworks (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID).
  • Vulnerability & Patch Management: Familiarity with managing automated patching pipelines and maintaining the security posture of the underlying infrastructure hosting security tools.
  • AI Platform Enablement: An interest in building the secure infrastructure and data governance guardrails required to support emerging generative AI and agentic workflows in SecOps.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, located at our Melbourne or Bendigo Head Office locations.

We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.
