Shape the narrative behind our enterprise risk uplift. Take ownership of strategy and execution in a high-visibility communications role backed by real flexibility.

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. Come and join the better big bank where we’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

At Bendigo Bank, we are proud to be Australia’s most trusted bank, driven by our purpose to feed into prosperity, not off it. We are committed to making a genuine difference for our customers, communities, and people every single day. This critical new role sits within our dynamic Brand, Communications and Marketing division, where we shape our brand narrative, engage our stakeholders, and champion transparent, meaningful communication right across the organisation.

To support our long-term strategic ambitions, a major multi-year risk uplift program is currently underway across the Bank. We have created the role of Senior Communications Manager – Risk to lead the program’s dedicated communications workstream. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving cultural and operational change, taking charge of both strategic communications planning and hands-on content execution. You will partner closely with our Executive leadership team and key program stakeholders to craft compelling narratives and deliver regular, high-impact progress updates.

As the Senior Communications Manager - Risk, you’ll get to:

  • Develop and drive the overarching communication strategy: Design tailored internal communication strategies that support our risk uplift and align with broader enterprise priorities.
  • Lead end-to-end campaign planning and execution: Translate strategic milestones into engaging internal campaigns, creating multi-channel content that resonates with diverse employee groups.
  • Partner with Executive and senior stakeholders: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing regular progress updates, briefing materials, and strategic counsel on risk-related communications.
  • Facilitate cross-divisional alignment: Collaborate with Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, and Brand teams to ensure consistent messaging, proactive risk management, and reputation safeguarding.
  • Measure and optimise impact: Track communication effectiveness, employee sentiment, and message cut-through, using actionable insights to refine delivery and drive behavioural change.

We are looking for an experienced, proactive communications professional with a proven track record in internal communications who thrives on bridging the gap between big-picture strategy and practical delivery. You are someone who genuinely enjoys rolling up their sleeves to write, create, and deliver high-quality content, while also possessing the confidence to take full ownership and operate autonomously. You excel at building strong relationships and naturally link in with peers across Public Relations, Corporate Affairs, and Marketing to drive cohesive outcomes.

While prior experience within a risk, compliance, or regulatory environment is an advantage, it is not essential—what matters most is your curiosity and genuine passion for navigating complex rectification and cultural uplift work. Similarly, banking or financial services experience is not required; we value diverse industry backgrounds and fresh perspectives.

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Strategic and tactical agility: Proven ability to design comprehensive communication frameworks and seamlessly execute day-to-day tactical deliverables.
  • Exceptional stakeholder influence: Skilled at consulting, advising, and presenting to senior executives and multi-disciplinary project leads with credibility and clarity.
  • Superior copywriting and storytelling: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for translating intricate, technical concepts into clear, engaging language.
  • Autonomy and initiative: A self-starter mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate ambiguity, and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset: Strong relationship-building skills with a track record of partnering across multidisciplinary teams to deliver unified messaging.

This opportunity can be based in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney or Bendigo. We understand that life does not fit into a rigid box, and we are committed to offering genuine flexibility through our hybrid working model. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.

This is a permanent position offered on a full-time basis, but we can support a part-time arrangement (4 days per week) for the right candidate.

You will join a vibrant, highly engaged Internal Communications team. While we are geographically dispersed across Australia, we operate as a tight-knit, collaborative, and supportive unit. We take pride in our inclusive team culture, where ideas are freely shared, achievements are celebrated, and everyone is empowered to do their best work.

So, why work with us?

  • Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.
  • Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you – and that gets more and more diverse every day.
  • Want career opportunity AND flexibility? Achieve both here, where we know that balance and progression go hand in hand.

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

  • Hybrid work? Flexible hours? A compressed work week? Our flexible work options are designed to suit your life.
  • Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.

We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you.

If you are ready to take on a new challenge and build something lasting, we encourage you to apply and join us on our journey. Now’s the time to set your sights higher – on the future you deserve. Apply now! Applications close 22 September. Please note that shortlisting and interviewing may commence prior to the advertisement end date.

We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
