About the role

As a Finance Analyst in our Investment Development team, you will be at the heart of our strategic internal investment decisions, supporting the rigorous commercial and financial evaluation that underpins our growth and transformation.

Reporting to the Head of Investment Development, you will assist the Investment Development team to deliver forward looking commercial insights, constructive challenge and ensure investment cases have robust financial models that support decision-making through scenario modelling and strategic analysis.

Key objectives are to support the Investment Development team with: 

• Financial advisory & insights: Provide high-quality, actionable commercial finance advisory and insights to support business unit planning.
• Value extraction: Identify and analyse value extraction opportunities relating to organisational capacity, including the bank’s investment slate.
• Financial modelling: Build, review, and stress-test complex financial models, maintaining a hands-on approach to key assumptions, data quality, and outputs.
• Benefits realisation: Implement and support benefits tracking frameworks and methodologies for all strategic investments, focusing on driving Group ROE optimisation.
• Business reviews: Coordinate and drive financial insights into quarterly business reviews (QBRs) and executive reporting.
• Governance & standards: Uplift business case quality and investment evaluation standards across the organisation to improve overall governance.
• Strategic transformation: Collaborate with the Strategic Execution Office and key business partners to help operationalise the strategic transformation agenda.
• Forecasting & capacity management: Support enhanced governance of investment spend by maintaining robust forecasting processes and supply/demand capacity models.

This is a full time, permanent position preferably based in Melbourne or Bendigo.

What you’ll bring to the role

You are a commercially astute and detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for strategic analysis and financial modelling. Your ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and build effective relationships with senior stakeholders will be key to your success.

To be successful, you will have:

• At least 4 years of experience in a similar role, such as commercial finance, investment banking, corporate finance, or strategic business partnering.
• Strong financial modelling and investment evaluation capabilities, with expertise in Excel and PowerPoint.
• The ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders while maintaining objectivity and confidentiality.
• Experience with portfolio management and reporting within a financial institution is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Power BI, SQL, JIRA, or Confluence will be considered an advantage.
