You will help develop and embed a proactive, intelligence-led risk management framework that enables the bank to achieve its goals safely and soundly.

- Developing and implementing the strategic direction for financial crime risk management.
- Providing expert advice and effective challenge to the first line of accountability to uplift our overall financial crime risk management maturity.
- Leading, mentoring, and inspiring a team of dedicated risk professionals.
- Driving a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk identification.
About the Role
The Head of Financial Crime Policy and Governance reports to Chief Compliance & Financial Crime Officer (and MLRO).
- Protect BEN from regulatory, reputational and financial risks by building, maintaining robust and ever-evolving financial crime risk programs and frameworks.
- Designing, implementing, maintaining and evolving the Bank’s Group-wide (and targeted) policies and programs for all financial crime risk categories.
- Financial crime programs and governance subject matter experts relating to all categories of financial crime, this role will identify, understand and interpret all applicable financial crime requirements and obligations.
- Develop comprehensive financial crime programs that ensure the Bank is effectively managing and mitigating financial crime risk.
- Responsible for all financial crime reporting (both internal and external), the HoFCPG will develop high-quality financial crime reports for senior leadership, risk committees, the Board and, where required, regulators.
- Define and monitor the Group Financial Crime Risk Appetite
- Lead, mentor, and empower a specialized team of financial crime Policy & Governance experts.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated understanding of financial crime risk management (2nd Line) and the risk environment within financial services.
- Experience in design, implementation and maintenance of financial crime policies, programs, frameworks and governance models.
- Ability to evidence contemporary and future practice for financial crime risk
- Superior and proven policy, standards and report drafting skills.
- Proven ability to lead high-performing teams, drive change, and foster a proactive risk culture.
- Superior and proven communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) that demonstrate an ability to build relationships at all levels of the business.
- Strong level of experience in continuous improvement across financial crime risk management, including risk management system.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field is essential
Highly desirable
· Post-graduate studies in Risk or Law
· Professional qualifications are highly desirable e.g. ACAMS, CFA, AFCS
Location: Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney, or Brisbane with flexible hybrid options.
