Shape the Future of Credit at Australia's Better Big Bank

Are you passionate about driving meaningful change? Do you want to play a pivotal role in a transformation that directly supports Australian businesses and communities? At Bendigo Bank, we're on a mission to be Australia's bank of choice, and we're looking for a visionary leader to help us get there.

About the Opportunity

As our Transformation Lead for Credit Risk Initiatives, you won't just be managing projects; you'll be at the heart of our strategy to revolutionise how we support our Business and Agribusiness customers. This role is central to our 2030 vision, where modernizing our credit frameworks is key to "feeding into prosperity, not off it."

You will lead the design and delivery of strategic initiatives aimed at modernising our credit decisioning, streamlining lending workflows, and ensuring our practices are aligned with the highest prudential standards. By reimagining our processes, you will directly contribute to faster, more efficient outcomes for our customers and bankers, reinforcing our position as a trusted partner.

Your Impact

This isn't just a role; it's a chance to make a real difference. You will:

  • Own It: Take the lead in scoping, designing, and executing critical credit transformation initiatives, ensuring we deliver on our promises to the market.
  • Be Better Together: Act as a key translator between Credit Risk, Policy, Tech squads and frontline Bankers. You will ensure risk appetite and policy are embedded into intuitive digital platforms and streamlined operatali procedures.
  • Find the Right Way: Balance prudent risk management with a market-leading customer experience, ensuring our transformation is both sustainable and impactful.
  • Make a Difference: Champion the industrialization of our credit policies and frameworks, measurably improving decision times and reducing friction for those who matter most: our customers and our people.

The Behaviours and Capabilities for Success

To thrive in this role, you are a leader who challenges the status quo and is driven by continuous improvement. You excel at:

  • Critical and Creative Thinking: You analyse complex problems and generate innovative solutions, applying human-centred design principles to rethink banking workflows.
  • Embracing Change: You demonstrate resilience and confidence in a dynamic environment, guiding teams through ambiguity with a clear, strategic vision.
  • Continuous Improvement: You constantly seek to evaluate and enhance processes, challenging norms to find better ways of working.
  • Embracing Risk Ownership: You cultivate a mindset of responsibility, making informed, data-driven decisions that align with our risk appetite and strategic goals.

What You'll Bring:

  • A strong track record (5+ years) in Australian Business, Commercial, or Agribusiness banking or similar industry experience.
  • Deep technical knowledge of credit risk principles, lending frameworks, and credit assessment processes.
  • Proven experience leading or playing a key role in end-to-end transformation, from design to implementation (including UAT).
  • Practical experience working with or within Credit Risk functions, influencing policy design, or improving underwriting workflows.
  • A strong understanding of delivery methodologies such as Agile and Human-Centred Design (HCD).
  • Working knowledge of relevant APRA prudential standards (e.g., APS 220, APS 113) is highly desirable.
