We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

As the Credit Manager Agri Direct, you will help support the Bank’s objectives by balancing traditional credit disciplines with innovative approaches—think automation and AI, to enhance our credit decision making processes and portfolio management. Reporting to the Senior Manager Business & Agri Direct Credit, you will exercise sound commercial judgment consistent with our credit risk policy framework, ensuring that lending decisions empower our agricultural communities.

In this role you’ll get to…

  • Exercise Lending Authority: Use your own Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) to decision agribusiness lending applications.
  • Shape Credit Practices: Manage the setting and issuance of DLAs to frontline lending businesses and contribute to the development of our DLA assessment framework.
  • Drive Policy & Strategy: Contribute to Credit Policy maintenance, address emerging credit risk issues, and support the design of commercial credit risk strategies that improve customer experience.
  • Build Core Relationships: Act as a key partner and collaborate closely with the Senior Manager Agribusiness Direct, Business & Agribusiness Leaders, and Group Risk Leaders to introduce changes and champion a contemporary risk management framework.
  • Manage Portfolios: Work alongside specialised business units to ensure non-performing loans and portfolios are appropriately re-graded and managed within required timeframes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee that underwriting practices comply with all relevant laws, requirements, and internal bank policies.

What you’ll bring to the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Agribusiness Expertise: Proven experience in an Agribusiness credit risk or lending role, preferably with experience exercising a Delegated Lending Authority.
  • Risk & Regulatory Knowledge: A deep understanding of credit risk management strategies, bank policies, and the overall regulatory and lending environment that banks operate within.
  • Financial Acumen: A strong ability to accurately interpret and analyse complex financial statements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a proven track record of influencing stakeholders and building strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Forward-Thinking Mindset: A keen interest in emerging technologies, including automation and AI in credit risk, to actively challenge the status quo.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. For the right candidate, we are open to this role being based out of any of our major Head Office locations.

We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.
